Year 2018 – Day 224

Went to Flushing yesterday to meet some people for a friend’s birthday celebration.

Had some shabu shabu at Spring Shabu Shabu.  It was pretty sweet because it was all you can eat buffet.  The only thing you had to pay extra for was the meat or seafood.

My first go around I got veggies and some noodles.  We got some lean beef for the table that I added to my spicy broth.

My second go around, I got more noodles and some dumplings to munch on.  Got a refill for the broth and let the noodles soak up all that flavor.  Finished the meal with some vanilla and green tea soft serve.

After dinner, we went to Zebra Lounge for some good old fashion karaoke.  Started the session with shot to get some liquid courage then a Sapporo.

We were there for 5 hours and I’m still recovering.  Luckily I don’t have to work today.

Year 2018 – Day 147

Yesterday went out to NYC to meet up with some friends from my previous job. The main highlight was to go to a Yankee game, but we decided to meet up earlier to hang out. Headed into Penn and met up at the bar. Started off with a Jack and Coke while the rest of the guys had a couple already.

After finishing our drinks we headed over to Barcade to hang out before the game. Barcade is a bar that has old arcade games that you can play. I got a few dollars worth of tokens and played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ghouls N Ghosts, RBI baseball, Marvel v Capcom 2 and some Dayton Racing. Then I had some Tetris Tots.

We left there and headed up to Yankee Stadium. Since it was the weekend and the MTA is renovating until 2050 at this point, all the trains were running on different tracks. We had to take probably 3 different trains and walk to a few different stations because trains weren’t stopping at all of the stops. Luckily we left when we did because we got to the stadium just in time. I got food and drinks for the guys and we sat down right at first pitch.

We sat in the 200 section, which isn’t that bad. It was pretty humid in the stadium and the Yankees got beat pretty bad. We decided to leave in after the 7th to try and beat traffic. Getting back to Penn wasn’t too horrible with the train maintenance. Got a Jamba Juice smoothie for the ride home and caught my train home.

It was nice NYC adventure. My next adventure will be a Hamptons long weekend for a family friend wedding in June. Better rest up.

Year 2018 – Day 125

Cinco de Mayo! When life gives you lemons you go to a Yankees game. It was my first Yankee game of the year. They played against the Indians. I got great seats along the left field foul line – two rows back. It was really nice out. I got a little bit of color as an added bonus. The people next to me in the row were Indians fans. I always end up next to the opposing team when I go to games.

After the game, I got to take a crowded train downtown. Since it was nice out I walked from Penn Station down to Chelsea Market to get some food. I had to get some Los Tacos No. 1 because they are delicious. The line is always long, but it’s worth it. After eating my quesadillas, I went to Doughnuttery to get some Purple Pig donuts (Maple, Purple Potatoes and Bacon). Then to cleanse my palate I went down to L’Arte del Gelato for some sorbet. I got lemon and raspberry. Then because I’m a fatass I finished it off with a Bahn Mi sandwich from Num Pang. My go to there is the Grilled Khmer Sausage with some Sriacha sauce.

After this feast for this fatty, I walked back to Penn Station and caught a train home to think about what I’ve done and to rest up for my next adventure.

Year 2018 – Day 104

NYC adventure time. Went to the Mets game yesterday with some friends. It was my first game there this season. It was a back and forth game and more action than the Indians game I went to in Cleveland. The weather was amazing. It was in the 60s and light breeze. I didn’t eat anything before the game and got some ballpark fair. When I got there I got two hot dogs and a pretzel to hold me over since I was basically starving. Then I got a pastrami sandwich that I spend a while in line for, but it was worth it. I actually caught a foul ball at the game. I gave it to a kid that was near me since I’m not going to do anything with a baseball. It was pretty cool feeling. Got a nice applause from the crowd. I’m also glad I was able to finally catch a ball. When I was younger I went to a Mets game at old Shea stadium and was upper 300/400 behind homeplate (can’t remember exactly) and missed catching a foul ball. I was eating a hot dog at the time and it literally went a row or two behind me. I thought I would never live that down, but I got to redeem myself.

This was also the first time I took LIRR to the game. The train platform was packed, but most of the people waiting were heading westbound and I was heading east. I got home just after midnight and went to sleep.

Today I woke up early and took a train back to NYC to meet up with some friends from Cali. We got brunch in Washington Heights. They used to live in Washington Heights and I used to live in the Bronx, so it was kind of a trip to our old neighborhood. Nothing in that area has changed much, besides a Sbarro being there and the McDonald’s looking modern.

For brunch, I got the stuffed crepes and a Mimosa because I was trying to be somewhat healthy – keyword somewhat. It was pretty good. After brunch, we went to the Natural Museum of Science. Since it was the weekend, we had to navigate the lovely MTA and all of it’s glory. We took a total of 3 trains to get to the museum when on a normal day it would have just been one. Thank you MTA, thank you so much.

I haven’t been to the museum in years. The only thing I remember is the dinosaur when you enter and the whale. We spend a lot of time walking around and looking at most of the museum. We didn’t get any exhibit tickets so we couldn’t check out all of it. It was really fun and I got my money’s worth ($5 mwahahah).

After the museum, we went our separate ways. I was going to head down to Chelsea Market for some tacos, but MTA weekend schedule struck again. There were no downtown trains at the museum stop. I walked from 81st down to 59th and caught a train to Penn Station instead. I got some Shake Shack instead.

Now I’m home and have to get ready for my next adventure.

Year 2018 – Day 99

Cleveland vacation is over. Got back home earlier this afternoon. Time to summarize the remainder of my trip.

Saturday went to brunch with some friends to SoHo in Ohio City. They give you some biscuits with butter and jam to start. They were really good. I got the hush pups and gravy, side of bacon and washed it down with a Tee Time. It was really delicious. I would recommend this place again. You definitely have to get there once they open or make some reservations. The house hot sauce was really good. It’s for sale as well.

After brunch we went to the west side market near by. I would definitely go there in the future to get some food. Lots of different foods and pretty reasonable prices.

Later in the afternoon, I went bowling with some friends. I haven’t bowled in years. I bowled like crap the first game, but turned it around the second game. After bowling we hit up the arcade in the back. I spent $20 to get $3 worth of candy. Totally worth it.

For dinner, we picked up some Boneyard and went over to another friends house to hang out. I got chicken parm over penne. It wasn’t too bad. We ate dinner there and watched the end of the Blue Jackets game. After that we went back home to chill. Played some video games and had a peanut butter canoli from West Side Market.

Sunday morning, my friend made us breakfast. We had pancakes and maple bacon from West Side Market. I ate a ton of pancakes and my weight in bacon. For lunch, we went downtown to Mable. I got the pork ribs with potatoes as a side. The ribs were really good. They just fell off the bones. The house sauces weren’t that bad either. The Mabel sauce is mustard based.

After lunch, we went to watch a hockey game at the Q. We saw the Cleveland Monsters vs San Antonio Rampage. It was pretty good game. The home team lost, but I got to see a bunch of goals and some fights.

We got some dinner on the way home. We went to Dewey’s Pizza in Lakewood. I got the seasonal pie Ballpark. It tasted just like a ballpark hotdog. It wasn’t that bad.

Today I ate the left over pizza and headed to the airport. It was easy to get thru security. Took a nap on the plane, but woke up because it was really hot in the cabin for some reason. Took two trains then walked home and now my vacation is over.

Time to rest up for my next adventure. Stay tuned!

Year 2018 – Day 97

Day two in The Land. Went to the Indians home opener yesterday. Started the day off with a beer. Went over to Crust for lunch before the game. Love that place. Got stuffed banana peppers and a pepperoni slice.

After Crust, went to pregame at City Tap downtown. Walked around downtown then went to the game. Progressive Field is setup pretty nicely. There is an outside bar area that will be the place to be in the summer.

The game was pretty fun. It was really cold though. All the action happened in the first inning and nothing else after. I got to see Andrew Miller in relief which was nice.

After the game, we got Dickey’s for dinner. It is a BBQ restaurant. I got pulled pork with spicy sausage, mac and cheese and fries. It was pretty tasty. Their original sauce was pretty good too. After eating I promptly passed out for the night.

Year 2018 – Day 96

Adventure time! This time I went to Cleveland to visit some friends. Took a mid-afternoon nonstop flight there. Had to take an early train because due to scheduling. Left my apartment around 10am to get some breakfast then walked to the train station. Got the airport around 12:15pm and waited around until my flight. JFK was nice and easy. Spend a bunch of time people watching before my flight.

My flight was pretty fast. Only 90 minutes or so. It was a small regional plane so I had to duck my head when walking in it and it was kinda cramped since I’m a fat ass.

Got to the airport and my friend picked me up. We went back to his house to drop off my stuff and wait for one of his friends. Then a group of us went to the Cavs – Wizards game. It was my first game at the Q. It was really fun and the atmosphere was nice. We got club seats so we got a waitress that would take our order. Before sitting down, I got some Bar Simon. Got a Polish Boy, some Lola fries and a beer to start the night. During the game I got some nachos, double JD and Pepsi and a hot dog. On the way out there were giving out Takis, so I got some of those for a snack.

The game was really good. The Wizards were up 15 in the 3rd, but the Cavs fought back and made some key defensive stops in the 4th to seal the win.

Today is another day of sports and food. Going to the Indians home opener.

Year 2018 – Day 91

Yesterday woke up and drove to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to meet up with some family friends for get together.  The drive was pretty quick.  Took me about 3.5 hours with a quick gas pitstop.

We went to an Indian buffet for lunch.  Love me some chicken tikka.  I got two plates of food and fought the itis pretty bad.  Then went back to chill at the AirBNB.

When on vacation I eat a bunch apparently.  I had two plates of food at lunch and then had two dinners.  Had some tacos from a Mexican place and then some Pho from a noodle place.  Then kept eating to see if I could blow up like a tick.  Had some tea, cake, Tim Tams and other desserts.  Watched the Final Four and called it a night.

Today went to Federal Taphouse for a brunch.  They had a lot of beers on tap.  I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon and it was pretty good.  After brunch, I headed back home.  There was a a few delays once I got closer to NY.  Once I got home, I passed out for a few hours. I gotta rest up for my next adventure.

Year 2018 – Day 84

March apparently is a good month for adventures. It’s not too cold and I am able to head out to places. It’s also a good month for birthdays. Earlier in the month, went to a friend’s birthday back home. Had some good food and it was basically my cheat day. Ate a lot of good food that day and had a fun time.

Yesterday, I went back to my hometown for a birthday for another one of my friends. Pizza, snacks and beer. Another weekend, another cheat day. It was really fun and had a blast. Going to try to go on more adventures soon and more frequently so I can update this site. Just have to not eat too much.

Year 2018 – Day 42

Oh man.  I’ve been busy with work so I haven’t been able to go on many fun adventures, but I do get to go places for work which is still an adventure.  The last couple of days I’ve had to drive a bunch.

Thursday I had to go out to East Hampton to have a business lunch with a potential new hire.  Free lunch always a good thing, but driving 4 hours total to have it, not so great.  Got a nice chicken sandwich and stayed out there until evening to get some dinner as well.  Hung out with old friends and got an eppi roll from a local pizza place then drove home.

Friday I was working in the data center installing new servers then I had to go pick up some parts for a client’s server that crashed.  I had to drive to Microcenter to pick up hard drives then all the way out to Brooklyn to get some cables.  It was 1.5 hour drive to Brooklyn because of traffic and then 2 hours back from Brooklyn.  The place I had to go to was basically Staten Island.  It was out there.  There was so much traffic on the I-278 and on the way back the quickest way was the Belt Parkway which was HELL.

I didn’t have to deliver the items that night.  I had to drive out back to East Hampton the next day.  So I got some food on my way out and put it on the company card since it was a company trip… kinda sorta.

I got some sliders from Smokin Wolf which was amazing as usual.  Hung out there for a few and caught up with a friend.  Hopefully I will be able to have more adventures once I get settled into my new job.
